Does NSC accept walk-in patients?
All patients are seen strictly by appointment only. Unless you are suffering from a severe skin condition, you will then be assessed by our nurses to ascertain the severity upon your arrival at our centre. If you require immediate medical attention, our nurses will make special arrangements for our doctor to assess you further. Please be prepared to wait for your consultation as patients with appointments will be given priority. An additional walk-in fee of $10 will be charged on top of the consultation fees.
Is your hospital a Government or Private hospital?
The National Skin Centre (NSC) is a government restructured institution and a subsidiary of the National Healthcare Group (NHG). We are an outpatient specialist dermatological centre with a team of dermatologists who have experience and expertise in treating skin conditions.
What are the removal methods available for milia seeds?
Milia seeds can be removed by extraction, electrocautery or liquid nitrogen.
What are skin tags?
Skin tags are harmless skin-coloured or brown growths that are usually asymptomatic. More information about skin tags and other

can be found in the Health Library.
Can skin tags be removed at NSC?
Yes, skin tags can be removed by snip excision and electrocautery. This is done under topical anaesthesia.
How much does it cost to remove them?
The cost of skin tags removal is approximately from $300* onwards per treatment session. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
Is there a possibility of recurrence after the removal?
Yes, there is a possibility of recurrence after the procedure.
Can spider veins on legs and face be treated in NSC?
Yes, spider veins can be removed at NSC. Please note that not all kinds of veins are suitable for removal.
How much does it cost to remove spider veins?
The cost for the treatment of spider veins is approximately $500* onwards per session, depending on the extent of your condition. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
How many sessions of treatment do I need to go for spider vein removal?
You will require approximately four to six sessions for effective result and the result is dependent on individual's response to the treatment.
Can I remove some of the veins on my legs at NSC?
Superficial leg veins can be lightened or removed via a treatment called Sclerotherapy. This involves injecting a chemical agent into the veins. For more information on Sclerotherapy, please visit the Health Library.
How much does the removal of superficial leg veins cost?
Sclerotherapy treatment costs approximately from $200 to $450* per leg. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
Does NSC treat venous lakes?
Yes, we do treat venous lakes at NSC.
How much will the laser treatment for venous cost?
If laser treatment is recommended for your condition, it will cost approximately from $450 to $2500* per treatment session, depending on the extent of your condition. A few sessions are required for effective result, depending on individual's response to treatment. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
Is tattoo removal available at NSC?
Yes, tattoos can be lightened using pigment lasers at NSC.
How much does it cost to do a tattoo removal?
Tattoo removal
costs approximately from $250 to $800* per session, depending on the size/area, depth, and colour of the tattoo. Several treatment sessions are required for effective result. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
Can green-coloured tattoo be removed at NSC?
Yes, green-coloured tattoo can be lightened using the Alexandrite laser machine which is available at NSC.
Can eyebrow tattoo be removed at NSC?
Yes.
Can eyeliner tattoo be removed at NSC?
Yes.
Is tattoo removal subsidised by the government?
No. Tattoo removal is considered an aesthetic procedure, it will not be entitled to government subsidy or the use of Medisave.
Do you treat Xanthelasma at NSC?
Yes, treatment for Xanthelasma is available at NSC. One of the most common treatment option is via excision.
What is the estimated duration of each treatment session?
Each treatment session lasts from half an hour to an hour.
Is the treatment of Xanthelasma subsidised by the government?
No. Treatment of Xanthelasma is considered an aesthetic procedure, it will not be entitled to government subsidy or the use of Medisave.
Do you provide whitening treatment for darkened underarm and groin?
We do not perform skin whitening procedures on darkened underarm and groin.
Is ALCAT Blood Testing available at NSC?
We do not conduct ALCAT Blood Testing for checking of food allergy. However, you may consider seeing a qualified allergist from Tan Tock Seng Hospital, or drop them an enquiry at this email address: contact@ttsh.com.sg for more information on ALCAT Blood Testing.
Is blood testing available at NSC?
Yes, blood testing is available.
How much does a blood test cost?
A blood test starts from $200* (more items cost more) onwards. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
Is there a test I can do to confirm my allergy to a certain brand of cosmetics?
Yes, NSC performs both patch tests and prick tests for allergies.
Is drug allergy testing available in NSC?
Yes, drug allergy testing is available at NSC.
How much does it cost to do a drug allergy test?
We are unable to inform you of the exact price of the drug allergy test as the doctor would be testing each drug per session and not all the drugs simultaneously. We will be able to inform you of the pricing upon consultation.
How is a drug allergy test conducted?
It could be performed via an oral or prick test which costs approximately from $200* onwards. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
What is a skin prick test?
A skin prick test will involve pricking the test site (on the skin) with a sharp tool and then exposing the site to various allergens that is to be tested.
What is the purpose of a skin prick test?
The purpose of a prick test is to allow an exposure to a suspected allergen to determine if patient has a potential allergy to the allergen or substance.
What types of allergens are being tested for in a prick test?
A prick test is suitable for testing certain types of allergens such as dust, housedust mite, animal furs, etc.
Can I request for a skin prick test at NSC?
We recommend that you make an appointment for a consultation with one of our dermatologists who will assess your medical, social and recreational history to determine if a skin prick test is recommended to be performed for you.
How much does it cost to do a skin prick test?
Cost of the test is dependent on the number of tested allergens ordered by the doctor. It will cost from approximately $60* onwards, depending on the number of allergens to be tested. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
What is the duration of a skin prick test?
Prick testing will take about 2 hours.
What do I have to take note of before taking the test?
3 days prior to a skin prick test, you have to stop the use of oral antihistamines or oral/topical (e.g. creams) steroids as it will interfere with the outcome of the test.
What are the options available for urticaria?
As there are multiple causes of urticaria, we recommend that you make an appointment for a consultation with one of our dermatologists to discuss the appropriate means of investigation method and treatment. For more information on

How much is the treatment?
The cost depends on the extent of your condition and type of treatment used. Extraction costs from $20 onwards. Electrocautery costs from $100 onwards. Liquid nitrogen costs from $15 onwards. Milia seed removal is considered a non-medical procedure and is not entitled to government subsidies or use of Medisave. Prices are subjected to change without prior notice. All costs stated are not inclusive of consultation, medication and other miscellaneous charges. All costs stated are inclusive of GST.
What is the cost of treatment?
The cost of treatment depends on the extent of your condition and the type of treatment used. Cost of treatment ranges from $300* onwards per session. *Fees are subject to change without prior notice and all costs stated does not include consultations, medications and miscellaneous charges.
Can I be seen at subsidised rates if I am a walk-in patient?
Non-subsidised rates apply if you are a walk-in patient. If you have any financial difficulties as a non-subsidised patient, you can make an application for reclassification for your future visits. You may request to transfer from non-subsidised to subsidised status by making an application through the Clinic staff and you will have to be financially assessed by our Medical Social workers to determine eligibility. All requests for transfers are subject to approval and assessment, otherwise you will remain under non-subsidised care. If your condition is non-urgent we recommend that you seek medical advice from a polyclinic, where you may be able to receive adequate care. With the referral from polyclinic for basic health care you will be eligible for subsidised care if required Please be assured that all our patients receive the same quality of care, regardless of their subsidy status.
