The NSC research laboratory plays a key role in facilitating clinical research and translational research which are integral to NSC’s mission to be a pivotal centre for clinicaland translational research.

For clinical research, the laboratory handles the primary processing, packaging, transiting and preparation of clinical research specimens before they are transported to the collaborating institutes for further analyses. Equipped with facilities and capabilities in molecular dermatology, the laboratory also conducts research that complements the Centre’s service, for example, diagnosis of certain rare genetic diseases and understanding the biological mechanism of certain skin diseases. In addition, the laboratory acts as the interface or bridge between the Centre’s clinicians and their external research collaborators from other research institutes or universities.
